Description

To whom it may concern, Statnett SF is the owner and operator of the Norwegian main power distribution system. This implies construction and operation of high voltage power lines and substations. Statnett SF is operating about 11 000 km of high voltage power lines, 150 substations, and the interconnections to Sweden, Finland, Russia, Denmark and the Netherlands. Statnett SF is a state-owned enterprise established under the Public Enterprises Act and owned by the Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy. Statnett SF have developed an aluminum transmission tower for our highest voltage level (420kV). You can find more information in the attached pdf. For the aluminum tower to be competitive with our standard steel lattice tower, the manufacturing must be made cost efficiently. Statnett SF would like to get in contact with possible manufacturers of aluminum products in order to have a dialog and learn more about the possibilities of producing towers in aluminum. Our intention is to present drawings of the tower design enabling the manufacturer to estimate a production cost that can be used in budget and concept decisions. Statnett SF see the benefit in using aluminum as a material for towers due to the characteristics of the metal, how this influences the process regarding erection of the towers and also the environmental aspects. We hope to get in contact with aluminium producers that have the competence and capacity to produce aluminum towers for Statnett in the future. Statnett is subject to the Public Procurement Act no. 73 of June 17th 2016 (the Procurement Act), and the Procurement regulations for the utilities sector no. 975 of August 12th 2016 (the Utility Regulation). This is a request for dialog with the market, the final procurement process will be a public competition.
